#26 Gwydir Forest - Betws-Y-Coed Woods
April, 2023
From its dramatic waterfalls and lush forests to its quaint stone cottages and ancient castles, Betws-y-Coed offers a wealth of photogenic subjects. The village's most famous landmark is Pont Cyfyn, a medieval bridge that crosses the River Llugwy. The bridge's arched stonework and the surrounding scenery make it a popular spot for photographers. Another photographic gem is the Swallow Falls, a series of cascading waterfalls that plunge into a deep gorge. The falls are particularly beautiful in the springtime when the snowmelt adds to the flow of water. I visited the local woods, and made one of my favourite woodland images to date.
