#112 Devil's Kitchen and Glyder Fawr
Devil's Kitchen is a dramatic gash carved by glaciers into Snowdonia's volcaniclastic rock. Imagine a steep V-shaped cleft with jagged rock faces, a testament to the power of ancient ice. From a distance the climb up it seems impenetrable, but a scrambly footpath is hidden amongst the boulder fall. Glyder Fawr, the crowning peak, is a testament to even older forces. Volcanic debris solidified and earth movements thrust it upwards, glaciers then sculpted the summit into a broad ridge. Today, expect a rugged landscape of steep slopes and loose scree surrounding the plateau summit. The summit is like a scene from the lord of the rings, with violently spikey rock formations.
